These are the finished shots of our set- bar the flooring. It was finished on the Thursday as Louis and I had ran out of wallpaper paste on the Wednesday. We did the walls of the set by wallpapering the flats and then painting that layer brown. We did this with various textures of wallpaper, and then when this had dried we got a white textured wallpaper and went over the brown layer with this- ripping when it was dry to show the grime underneath. I then got teabags and painted the white layer over so that it appeared a grimey off-colour cream.
We had previously in the first session we ever had in the workshop assembled our flats and cut out our window, so the only thing left to do to the window was to affix the windowsill that we had cut and painted. We ran into some trouble with this, so Susannah helped us by showing us that we could screw them on by hand and that it would be much safer and easier than using a drill or the hot glue gun - we had tried both.
It has taken a lot of hours of work but I'm really happy with the way that the set has turned out. It looks better than I envisioned that it was going to and I hope that the rest of the team are happy with how the set looks as we did hit some complications on the way such as running out of wallpaper and the lack of being able to find a cot for our uncanny baby to sit in. We found a basket that did just as good of a job however, which was very lucky.
Hopefully the shoot on Monday will go well and I have asked them to keep me up to date with it and also to ask for help if they need it. Its a shame that I can't be there in person but due to unforeseen circumstances I cannot.
